Unhealthy Rivalry Among Churches Hindering Gospel of Christ - Bayelsa Deputy Governor
The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has expressed concern that unhealthy rivalry among churches is hindering the spread of the Gospel of Christ. He made this statement during a courtesy visit by the National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), South South zone, Archbishop Emmah Isong.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo urged Christian leaders and organizations to set aside every form of unhealthy competition and focus on winning more souls for the Kingdom of God. He emphasized that rivalry among various denominations of the Church, promoted through teachings by some ministers, is doing untold harm to the spread and impact of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Deputy Governor noted that the real Church that was refined by fire on the Day of Pentecost would re-emerge when the various branches of the Church stop unhealthy competition. He lamented that it is rare to hear the undiluted message of salvation from the pulpit nowadays, attributing this to the divisive tendencies among churches.
Archbishop Emmah Isong, National Vice President of the PFN, South South zone, described Bayelsa State as a fortress of the Christian faith in the South South geopolitical zone. He expressed gratitude for the state's support and solicited assistance for the PFN's 40th anniversary celebration and the construction of the new PFN national Secretariat in Abuja.
The Deputy Governor's statement highlights the need for unity and cooperation among Christian leaders and organizations. By working together and setting aside unhealthy rivalry, Christians can effectively spread the Gospel and promote national development. The PFN's commitment to supporting the government and promoting the Christian faith is a step in the right direction.
