Plateau to Host 2025 National Conference of Vehicle Inspection Officers
The Plateau State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Davou Jatau Gyang, has charged Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) to step up their service delivery to meet global standards. He made this call when he received a delegation from the National Conference of Directors and Chief Road Traffic Officers (VIOs) of the Federation, who paid him a courtesy visit ahead of the 2025 edition of the conference scheduled to hold in Plateau State.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of creating a more efficient and citizen-friendly road traffic system in the country. He urged the road traffic officers to use the conference as a platform to share innovative ideas on how to improve synergy between regulatory officers and road users. The Commissioner expressed his desire for the conference to set a model not just for Nigeria, but for other African countries.
The National Secretary of the National Conference of Directors and Chief Road Traffic Officers (VIOs) of the Federation 2025, Mr. Durojaye Babawale Olalekan, thanked the Governor of Plateau State and the Ministry of Transport for their warm reception and readiness to host the event. He stated that the conference aims to enhance national security and strengthen quality service delivery.
The Chairman of the organizing committee and Director, Vehicle Inspection, Plateau State Ministry of Transport, Mrs. Anna Mweltok, noted that the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) was already in place to ensure a smooth and successful event. She explained that the courtesy visit was to inform the Commissioner about the conference, share details of the event, and strengthen the working relationship with the ministry.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Jummai Adamu, commended members of the delegation for their commitment to national development through road safety reforms.
