Onitsha Country Club Wins Fada Pita Charity Tennis Tournament Trophy

The Onitsha Country Club has emerged as the winner of the 23rd edition of the Fada Pita Charity Tennis Tournament, hosted by Elite Sports Club in Onitsha, Anambra State. The club maintained its position as champion for over four years, defeating Rojenny Lawn Tennis, Oba, Idemili South Local Government, in the final.



The tournament, which featured several clubs, saw Beverly Hills Recreation Club, Nnewi, emerge third, while Elite Sports Club, Onitsha, won the best-behaved club award. The competition was marked by exciting matches, with the participating clubs showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.

The Fada Pita Charity Tennis Tournament is not just about sports; it also has a significant charity component. The tournament has been instrumental in raising funds and providing support to less privileged individuals and organizations. During the competition, four charity homes, including Red Cross Ozubulu, Ajayi Crowther Motherless Babies, Onitsha, DCC Nnewi Deaf and Dumb, Leprosy Center Okija, and Amichi, were presented with gift items.

Chief Anietonwa Kingsley Ajulufo, the President of Onitsha Country Club, expressed gratitude to God for the club's victory. He noted that the club has played in the Fada Pita Lawn Tennis Tournament for over 10 years and has continuously presented gift items to the less privileged through the tournament.

Chief George Okezie Adinnu, the new President of Fada Pita Charity Tennis Tournament, lauded the organization's efforts in supporting the less privileged. He commended his predecessor, Okachamma, for his fairness and justice in managing the tournament.

Rev. Fr. Peter Muojekwu, the founder of Fada Pita Charity group, expressed satisfaction with the tournament. He disclosed that Fada Pita Charity group is one entity with three arms, including Fada Pita Charity Initiative Nigeria, Fada Pita Charity Organization, and Father Pita Sports Foundation. The organization works to champion the cause of the physically challenged, abandoned kids, and disabled, while the sports body brings people together through sporting activities to assist the downtrodden.

The Fada Pita Charity Tennis Tournament is a testament to the power of sports in promoting unity and supporting a good cause. The tournament has not only provided a platform for clubs to compete but has also raised awareness and funds for charity. The Onitsha Country Club's victory is a reflection of their dedication and commitment to the tournament.
