Niger Delta Backs President Tinubu for Second Term
Leaders from the Niger Delta region have thrown their support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing him for a second term in office. The endorsement came during the 25th-anniversary celebration of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The leaders cited President Tinubu's initiatives and projects in the region, including the establishment of an Environmental Sciences University in Ogoniland and a Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State. These projects, they said, demonstrate the President's commitment to addressing the region's environmental and economic challenges.
The leaders also highlighted the President's efforts to promote education and development in the region, including the establishment of several tertiary institutions in Agriculture and Technology. They expressed their confidence in the President's ability to continue developing the region and addressing its needs.
The Niger Delta region, known for producing the nation's wealth, has emphasized its desire to have a say in who manages its resources. The leaders warned against conspiracies aimed at removing the President from office, stating that the region stands united in support of President Tinubu.
"We the people of the Niger Delta have assessed President Tinubu and have found him fit to continue in office beyond 2027," the leaders declared. "On your mandate, we stand."
The endorsement marks a significant development in the region's relationship with the federal government, and is likely to boost President Tinubu's chances of re-election.
