NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine, Cannabis, and Counterfeit Travelers Cheques in Multiple Busts
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made several significant seizures and arrests in recent operations, demonstrating its commitment to combating drug trafficking in Nigeria. The agency intercepted cocaine consignments concealed in lipsticks and property title documents bound for the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
A total of 420 grams of cocaine were seized from lipsticks, while 280 grams were recovered from a property title document. The cocaine consignments were intercepted at a courier company in Lagos, highlighting the agency's efforts to target illicit substances at various points of exit.
The NDLEA also arrested a notorious drug kingpin, Ajetsibo Emami, popularly known as 'Warri Kinsman,' and seized 414.2 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a strain of cannabis. The kingpin's network was dismantled in a three-day operation, leading to the arrest of three other suspects.
In another operation, a couple, Ajah Johnson Uchenna and Rosemary Uchenna, along with their two daughters and a family friend, were detained for running a major illicit drug distribution network. The agency recovered 277.5 kg and 231 kg of skunk from the couple's possession and their home, respectively.
In other operations, the NDLEA intercepted 7,660 pills of tramadol 225mg and 200mg at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. A frequent flyer, Aburemi Hysent, was arrested for concealing the tramadol pills in food items.
The agency also seized 52 pieces of travelers cheques worth 17,700,000 Australian dollars concealed in children's books bound for Malaysia. The travelers cheques are suspected to be counterfeit, and the suspect will be transferred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further investigation.
The NDLEA also recovered 359 kg of skunk from a store in Baba-Pupa area of Seme border. In another operation, the agency intercepted 10,000 pills of tramadol 225mg and co-codamol as well as 1.050 kg of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis.
The NDLEA's efforts to combat drug trafficking have yielded significant results, with several arrests and seizures made in recent operations. The agency is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public and will continue to work tirelessly to prevent the trafficking of illicit substances.
