NDDC Donates Relief Materials to Communities in Bayelsa, Demonstrates Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has taken a significant step towards supporting the people of the Niger Delta region by donating relief materials to Otuasega and Oruma communities in Bayelsa State. This initiative is part of the Commission's corporate social responsibility efforts, aimed at alleviating the suffering of vulnerable communities in the region.



The NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, noted that the distribution of palliatives demonstrates the Commission's resolve to align its social interventions with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. Ogbuku emphasized that the Commission is committed to alleviating the plight of the people by supporting vulnerable communities and promoting sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.

The donation was made in partnership with an indigenous non-governmental organization, Ednest Egerue Foundation. The Founder of the Foundation, Susan Ibiama, commended the NDDC for its roles in bringing succor and relief to the people of the Niger Delta region. She described the intervention as laudable, especially given the significant economic losses suffered by the communities due to flooding.

The Vice Chairman of the Community Development Committee of Otuasega community, Mr. Innocent Abbey, acknowledged the Commission's contributions to the development of the community. He highlighted completed projects, including the construction of a modern school, hospital, and lodge for youth corps members, as well as the ongoing provision of food items and relief materials. Abbey expressed gratitude to the NDDC for remembering their people at a difficult time.

The Secretary of the Ngbiama-Oruma Community, Mr. Akaribo Lamanya, lauded the present board of NDDC and pledged that the relief materials would be distributed equitably among the people. This assurance underscores the community's trust in the NDDC's commitment to supporting the well-being of the people.
