Mayor Nwora Urges Youths to Register to Vote and Shape Onitsha North's Future
The Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, has called on young residents to seize the opportunity to register to vote and shape the future of their community. The call was made as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) launched its Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
Mayor Nwora emphasized that the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is more than just a card; it's a key to participation, empowerment, and accountability. He reminded attendees that active voter registration strengthens community development and ensures leaders remain responsive to the needs of the people.
The Mayor urged parents, teachers, and community elders to support the drive and accompany first-time registrants to INEC centers. He emphasized that youth engagement is crucial in shaping the future of Onitsha North and reaffirmed his commitment to championing initiatives that involve young people in decision-making.
The Continuous Voter Registration exercise allows citizens who turned 18 since the last exercise, those who lost their PVCs, and individuals seeking transfers to update their electoral status. Mayor Nwora underlined that participation is both a right and a responsibility that fortifies the democratic fabric of the nation.
Residents are encouraged to visit designated registration centers, bring a valid means of identification, and be part of the electoral process that shapes leadership at local and national levels. By registering to vote, youths can build a brighter future for Onitsha North and ensure that their voices are heard.
