Kaduna State Launches Initiative to Achieve Universal Health Coverage for Informal Sector Workers

The Kaduna State Government has launched an enrollment drive for the informal sector into the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA). The flag-off event was held at the Ministry's Conference Hall, marking the beginning of a major initiative to achieve universal health coverage in the state.

The Honourable Commissioner of Health, Hajiya Umma K. Ahmed, reaffirmed Governor Uba Sani's commitment to affordable healthcare, a key priority in his development agenda. The Commissioner expressed gratitude to development partners, including EngenderHealth Consortium and ISMPH, for their strong support and commitment to improving health outcomes in Kaduna State.

The enrollment drive will initially be implemented in three pilot Local Government Areas, with the aim of expanding access to healthcare services for residents in the informal sector. The Chairman of Chikun LGA, Engr. Salasi Musa, pledged full grassroots support to ensure the success of the enrollment. He emphasized the importance of community participation in the program and assured that the local government would work closely with the state government to ensure its success.

The event was attended by directors from the Ministry of Health, Ward Development Committee Chairmen, and key partners, all united in driving this impactful health reform forward. The partnership between the state government and development partners is expected to improve health outcomes in Kaduna State and promote universal health coverage.

The enrollment drive is expected to have a significant impact on healthcare in Kaduna State. By expanding access to healthcare services for residents in the informal sector, the program will help to reduce the financial burden of healthcare on individuals and families. This, in turn, will improve health outcomes and contribute to the overall well-being of the population.

The launch of the enrollment drive for the informal sector into KADCHMA marks a significant step towards achieving universal health coverage in Kaduna State. The initiative demonstrates the state government's commitment to affordable healthcare and its willingness to work with partners to improve health outcomes. With the support of development partners and grassroots communities, the program is expected to make a positive impact on the lives of Kaduna State residents.
