Imo Police Command Takes Bold Step Against Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Institutions

The Imo State Police Command, in partnership with the Alliance for Africa Initiative, has retrained 30 Gender Desk Officers to combat sexual harassment in tertiary institutions. The training, themed “Systematic Approaches to Addressing Sexual Harassment in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions,” aimed to equip officers with modern tools and survivor-centered strategies for responding to sexual harassment.



The Imo State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safe and supportive learning environments in tertiary institutions across the state. The Command commends the Alliance for Africa Initiative for their commitment to social justice and assures Imolites and academic communities of its unwavering resolve to promote safe and supportive learning environments.

The retraining of these 30 officers marks a crucial milestone in strengthening accountability and responsiveness in policing gender-based issues. The Imo State Police Command is taking a bold step towards creating a safer and more supportive environment for students in tertiary institutions.
