Historic Moment: ESUT Inducts 70 Pioneer Graduates into Nursing Profession

The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has inducted 70 pioneer graduates of its Department of Nursing Sciences into the nursing profession. The induction ceremony, conducted by the Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), marked a significant milestone for the university and the graduates.

The inductees, who began their academic journey in 2018, expressed gratitude to Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for his decisive action and strategic intervention in securing accreditation for the programme. The governor's support and provision of necessary facilities enabled the university to meet the standards required by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the NMCN.

The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Yomi Jaye, described the event as a celebration of vision, resilience, and political will. He praised Governor Mbah's commitment to revamping the education and health sectors through massive investments, which has brought smiles to the graduates and reaffirmed the government's dedication to working for the people.

The Vice Chancellor of ESUT, Prof. Aloysius Okorie, described the ceremony as a turning point in the university's history. He praised Governor Mbah's unwavering support, which has enabled the university to achieve significant transformation, with over 90% of its courses now fully accredited by the NUC and other professional bodies.

The inductees were charged to carry out their duties with compassion and empathy, upholding the ethics of the profession and prioritizing patient welfare. The ceremony marked a new beginning for the graduates, who are now part of the noble healthcare profession.
