Gov. Otti Declares 2nd Quarter Retreat Open, Reminds Appointees of Huge Tasks Ahead

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has reminded members of the State Executive Council and all appointees of his government of the enormous tasks ahead of them in the second half of his first term in office. The Governor made the remark during the opening of the Abia State Quarter 2 Strategy Retreat, themed "Sustaining the Momentum: Leadership and Execution", held at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia.

Governor Otti reflected on the progress made in the last 21 months since the first Executive Council retreat, highlighting the lessons learned in public service, managing stakeholders' expectations, and striking a fair balance between meeting urgent needs and repositioning for future opportunities. He noted that the general consensus is that his government has done well in the last two years, raising the bar on governance and showing commitment to the new Abia dream.

The Governor emphasized the importance of regular retreat sessions to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and determine how to speed up implementation. He urged participants to leverage the retreat to interact, share knowledge, and improve their performances, stressing that his government has zero tolerance for mediocrity.

Governor Otti encouraged appointees to take advantage of one-on-one mentorship sessions with members of the Global Economic Advisory Council, led by Co-Chair Professor Ms. Arunma Oteh. He thanked the Council members for their contributions and interactions with government officials prior to the retreat.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, highlighted the importance of effective collaboration among government officials. He stressed that while ideas and visions are celebrated, they only achieve meaning through disciplined and collaborative implementation.
