Gov Okpebholo Suspends Commissioning of Edoline Buses in Honor of Late President Muhammadu Buhari

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the suspension of the commissioning ceremony of 102 ultra-modern buses acquired for the newly rebranded Edoline Mass Transit Scheme. This decision was made in respect of the passing of Nigeria's former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who played a significant role in shaping the country's democratic journey and governance history.

Governor Okpebholo stated that proceeding with the flag-off of the public transportation initiative at this time would be insensitive and out of tune with the national mood. "President Muhammadu Buhari was a towering figure in Nigeria's democratic journey and governance history. As a people, we must reflect this period of national loss with appropriate solemnity. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the unveiling of the Edoline buses in honor of his memory," the Governor said. This decision demonstrates the government's commitment to showing respect and dignity to the late President's legacy.

The Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late President, the government and the people of Katsina State, and indeed all Nigerians who feel the weight of this monumental loss. He expressed regret over the inconveniences caused to invited guests, dignitaries, stakeholders, and members of the public who had looked forward to the event. A new date for the commissioning will be communicated in due course, allowing the government and the people of Edo State to pay their respects to the late President in a befitting manner.

Despite the suspension of the commissioning ceremony, Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration's commitment to providing reliable and people-centered public transportation. The Edoline initiative will soon be operational to ease intra-urban mobility for Edo residents. The government has invested heavily in the Edoline Mass Transit Scheme, which promises to revolutionize public transportation in the state and improve the quality of life for residents.

The suspension of the commissioning ceremony is a testament to the government's commitment to national unity and solidarity during times of mourning. It also demonstrates the government's respect for the late President's contributions to the country's development and stability. The Edoline initiative will be a lasting legacy of the current administration's commitment to improving the lives of Edo residents, and its operationalization will be a significant step towards achieving that goal.
