Delta State First Lady Supports Launch of OYA Campaign Against Cervical Cancer
The Wife of the Governor of Delta State and Founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has expressed her support for the OYA Campaign, a initiative aimed at protecting adolescent girls against cervical cancer through HPV vaccination. Deaconess Oborevwori was represented by the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Mrs. Catherine Onyeme, at the official launch of the campaign held at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
The campaign is themed “Protecting Our Girls Against Cervical Cancer Through HPV Vaccination” and is a collaboration between Girl Effect and the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
Over 331,919 girls aged 9 to 14 have received the HPV vaccine since its rollout in May 2024.
The campaign aims to safeguard adolescent girls against cervical cancer.
Deaconess Oborevwori described the campaign as a vital step toward protecting adolescent girls.
She expressed gratitude for the Girl Respects HPV Vaccination Vanguard Award and restated her commitment to girl-child health advocacy.
She thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for prioritizing the wellbeing of Deltans and urged continued awareness on HPV vaccination and good nutrition.
The OYA Campaign is a result of the collaboration between Girl Effect and the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency. This partnership highlights the importance of collective efforts in promoting health and wellbeing, particularly among adolescent girls.
