Debtors Celebrate Death of Popular Money Lender, Old Warri

The death of Mr. Vincent Onoriode Akpovughaire, popularly known as Old Warri, has brought a sense of relief to many debtors across Delta State and beyond. As a major money lender, Old Warri had been in possession of properties, important documents, and personal bank accounts of his debtors, who had borrowed hundreds of millions of naira from him.
Some debtors have openly expressed their joy at Old Warri's passing, feeling that they can now breathe a sigh of relief. One debtor even claimed that he would take possession of his landed properties, which were previously used as collateral for a loan, and threatened to take action against anyone who tried to stop him.
Another debtor, who works with an International Oil Company (IOC), revealed that Old Warri had been in charge of his salary for six months, leaving him with minimal funds. With Old Warri's death, the debtor expects to regain control of his finances and have his full salary deposited into his account without anyone withdrawing from it.
Some debtors have vowed not to pay the outstanding debts to Old Warri's family, citing their relief at being free from his debt collection. This decision has raised questions about the implications for the debtors and the family of the deceased.
While some people have expressed shock at Old Warri's death, his debtors have been vocal about their relief. The news of his passing has sparked mixed reactions, with some people condoling with his family and others celebrating their newfound freedom from debt .
