David Mark to Lead Opposition Coalition, ADC Adopted as Party Platform

A coalition of opposition parties has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform, with former Senate President David Mark set to lead the party as Interim National Chairman. The coalition aims to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Former Senator Shehu Sani shared his personal connection with David Mark, recalling his time as a secondary school student in Niger State where Mark served as Governor 42 years ago. Sani described Mark as a disciplinarian and a good man, highlighting their more recent collaboration as colleagues in the 8th Senate.

The opposition coalition brings together prominent figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party's 2023 Presidential Candidate Peter Obi, and former Governors Nasir El-Rufai and Rotimi Amaechi.

David Mark is set to lead the party as Interim National Chairman, while Rauf Aregbesola has accepted the role of National Secretary. Aregbesola pledged to transform the ADC into a modern institution grounded in internal democracy, transparency, and service to the people.
