Customs Seizes Smuggled Goods Worth ₦78m in Bauchi

The Nigeria Customs Service has seized contraband items worth ₦78,111,442.50 in Bauchi. The seized items include petroleum products, pharmaceutical substances, and military gear.


The Customs authorities confiscated the goods between May 21 and July 16, 2025. The items seized include fuel, drugs, and food products. Specifically, the seized items include 13,750 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 725 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), 20,600 sachets of Tramadol Hydrochloride, 1,000 cartons of foreign spaghetti, and several other items.

The Customs Service handed over some of the seized items to relevant agencies for further action. These include 711.9kg of pangolin scales, which were handed over to the Customs Special Wildlife Unit, 32,010 sachets of Tramadol Hydrochloride, which were handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and 45 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, which were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The Customs Service has received nine new operational vehicles to boost its enforcement capabilities. The agency urges traders to comply with the law and warns that those engaged in illegal trade will be apprehended and prosecuted.

The seizure is part of the Customs Service's efforts to combat smuggling and protect the country's economy. The agency remains committed to its mandate of enforcing customs laws and regulations. The public is advised to report any suspicious activities to the Customs Service.
