Breaking News: Bakassi Deep Seaport Project Takes a Major Step Forward

The Bakassi Deep Seaport project in Cross River State has received a significant boost with the presentation of the official Hydrographic, Geotechnical, and Navigational Chart Report by Rear Admiral Ayo Olugbode, Hydrographer of the Federation. The report marks a major milestone in the development of the seaport, which is expected to revolutionize trade, create jobs, and boost Nigeria's blue economy.



Governor Bassey Otu described the presentation of the report as a "historic milestone" that reaffirms Cross River's coastal status and opens the door for international shipping, economic growth, and regional development. The Governor noted that the chart meets global standards and sets the stage for massive economic opportunities, particularly with the upcoming coastal highway.

With the technical phase complete, the project now awaits approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) before construction begins. The presentation of the report was attended by top naval officers, including the Chief of Naval Staff.
