Bayelsa Commissioner Charges Ministry Staff to Improve Work Attitude

The Commissioner of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Investment in Bayelsa State, Dr. Ebieri Jones, has urged staff to enhance their work attitude, emphasizing the importance of punctuality and regular attendance. Dr. Jones made this call during a meeting with staff at the Ministry's Conference Hall in Yenagoa on July 14, 2025.



The Commissioner expressed concern over the poor attendance record of some staff, highlighting its negative impact on productivity and overall ministry performance. He noted that the Ministry's efforts to create a website will enhance online presence and information dissemination, and that staff must be committed to supporting this initiative.

Dr. Jones announced a training initiative for five staff members from various departments on website operations, data collection, and content management. This training aims to equip staff with the necessary skills to effectively manage and update the website, ensuring that it serves as a valuable resource for the Ministry and its stakeholders.

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Oluwatoyin Azebi, also emphasized the need for a change in attitude and commitment to duties. He warned that failure to comply may result in dire consequences, including salary deductions or stoppage, stressing the importance of staff taking their responsibilities seriously.

The meeting also discussed potential uses for the newly built Seriake Dickson Ultra Modern Market, Kpansia stalls. Staff proposed various ideas, including a foodstuff market, computer village, fish market, and textile market. The Ministry plans to utilize the new stalls to enhance its service delivery and support the state's economic development.

Improving work attitude is crucial for the Ministry's success. By being punctual, regular, and committed to their duties, staff can enhance productivity, improve service delivery, and contribute to the state's economic growth.
