Aregbesola Accepts Appointment as ADC Interim National Secretary, Pledges Party Reform

Governor Rauf Aregbesola has accepted the appointment as the Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In his acceptance speech, Aregbesola emphasized the importance of a political party being a living institution built on values, guided by ideals, and accountable to the people it seeks to serve.

Aregbesola stated that the ADC must be a party with a clear ideological compass, committed to the people, and rooted in democratic values, rule of law, social justice, accountability, transparency, and national development. He emphasized the need for internal democracy, transparency, fairness, and justice within the party.

Aregbesola lamented the state of Nigerian politics, saying that many parties lack ideological depth and are driven by power and personality rather than policy or principle. He pledged to build a party that listens to and works for the people, not just during elections, but every single day.

Aregbesola outlined his vision for the party's structure and organization, emphasizing the need for:

- Internal democracy and transparency

- Fair and just intra-party competition

- Effective and efficient party structures

- Real voice for young people, women, and the marginalized

- Recognition and autonomy for special interests

Aregbesola stated that the party will model international best practices in party organization, administration, and ethics, adapting what fits the local reality. He cited the African National Congress (ANC) of South Africa as an example of a party that has achieved great things through its commitment to ideology, principle, and people-centered struggle.
