Anambra Police-Led Security Forces Contain Shooting Incidents at Oko and Ekwulobia Flyover

The Anambra Police-led Security Force has contained a shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of July 9, 2025, at Oko and Ekwulobia flyover, Aguata Local Government Area. The team demobilized one of the armed hoodlums and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one automatic pump action gun, and four vehicles at the scene.



The recovered vehicles include:

- One red Toyota Camry vehicle with Reg No: ENU 58 SC

- One custom-colored GLK Mercedes Benz without a registration number

- One golden-colored Lexus 330 with Reg No: ENU 815 AP

- One ash Toyota Highlander with Reg No: GDD 517 RW


The security forces also recovered one AK-47 rifle and one automatic pump action gun from the armed hoodlums.

Unfortunately, the incident resulted in the death of two unsuspecting members of the public, and a brown Toyota Sienna vehicle allegedly belonging to the Anambra State Vigilante Group was burned. The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and deposited in the morgue.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has put in place adequate security measures to ensure the safety of residents. The Joint Security Team continues to pursue the armed hoodlums, and efforts to ensure the safety of residents continue unabated.

Residents are urged to remain calm as the security situation is being managed. Further developments will be communicated as the situation unfolds.

The Anambra State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents. The command will continue to work tirelessly to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
