Anambra Police Arrest Dreaded Cult Member Linked to Murder and Abduction
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Chukwujekwu Micheal Okoye, also known as "Bus-Stop," in connection with a string of violent crimes in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area. The suspect is believed to be a member of the Aye Confraternity Cult group and is linked to the murder of two persons, injury of two others, and abduction of two individuals who were later released after ransom was paid.
According to the police, the arrest was made by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu on July 7, 2025. The police recovered one automatic pump-action gun and two handsets from the suspect. The suspect confessed to being an active member of the cult group and holding a position as a Lord. He also revealed details of the group's plans for an initiation ceremony and rivalry cult attack.
The suspect confessed to participating in the attack on Oko on June 19, 2025, along with six other gang members. He also revealed that the group had perfected plans for another attack on July 7, 2025. The police have activated plans to arrest other gang members and dismantle the criminal network in the state.
