Akwa Ibom Govt Empowers Youths with AI, Digital Skills through ARISE Youth Skills Week 2025

The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced plans to host the ARISE Youth Skills Week 2025, a 3-day event designed to equip young people with future-ready skills in artificial intelligence and digital innovation. The event, themed “Youth Empowerment Through AI & Digital Skills,” will take place from Sunday, July 13th to Tuesday, July 15th, 2025.



The event aims to prepare youths in the state for a technology-driven and productive future. The Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Ekerette Ekanem, outlined the goals of the initiative, which include harnessing youth skills for economic growth and innovation in line with the ARISE Agenda. The Commissioner emphasized that the event is a clarion call to prepare the youth for a technology-driven future, where they can thrive, lead, and innovate.

The event will feature a church service, panel discussion, and prize presentation to deserving young innovators. The categories to be captured during the event include AgriTech, Tourism, Health, Fin-Tech, AI in Education, Governance, and Finance, among others. Cash prizes will be awarded to innovators with outstanding ideas, ranging from 1 million Naira for the first prize to 100,000 Naira as consolation prizes.

The Commissioner also hinted at plans to establish Youth-Friendly Innovation Hubs across the state, which will provide spaces for training, mentorship, and digital skill incubation. This initiative will enable young people to access resources and support to develop their skills and ideas.

The event reflects Governor Umo Eno’s unwavering commitment to youth development and digital innovation under the ARISE Agenda. The Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, lauded the initiative as a vital offshoot of the ARISE Agenda, aimed at enhancing the creativity, innovation, and inclusion of young people.

The Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Ekerette Ekanem, highlighted the pivotal role of the media in championing the digital literacy movement. He urged the media community to amplify youth success stories in technology, which will help to promote the state's digital innovation ecosystem.

The ARISE Youth Skills Week 2025 is a significant initiative that will empower young people in Akwa Ibom State with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a technology-driven future. The event is expected to bring together over 1,000 youth leaders, innovators, and stakeholders from across the state, providing a platform for them to learn, innovate, and grow. With the government's commitment to youth development and digital innovation, the future looks bright for young people in Akwa Ibom State.
