Abia Airport City Project: Governor Otti Welcomes Skymaster's Partnership Proposal

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has welcomed a proposal by Skymaster Services Group to partner with the state government in providing aviation services in the ongoing Abia airport city project. The Governor stated that his administration is not just partnering with the Federal Government to build an airport but an airport city that will have hotels and other facilities.



The construction of the Abia Airport runway is progressing, and the Governor restated the resolve of his government to build an international airport that all well-meaning Abians and Nigerians would be proud of. The state government's technical team will further engage with Skymaster Services Group to deepen discussions on some technical areas contained in their presentation.

The Governor emphasized that the airport city project is a comprehensive initiative that goes beyond just building an airport. The project will include hotels and other facilities, with the goal of creating a hub that will drive economic growth and development in the state.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Skymaster Services Group, Mr. Princewill Ogbonna, said that the company is interested in partnering with the state government to provide air services, including domestic services at the new Abia Airport. The company has experience in providing aviation services and operations in Port Harcourt and Lagos States, as well as airports in Milan, Italy.

The Governor welcomed the proposal, stating that it is an opportunity for the state government to leverage the expertise and experience of the private sector to drive the development of the airport city project. He thanked the company for their interest in partnering with the state government and expressed optimism that the partnership will yield positive results.

The meeting marks a significant step in the development of the Abia airport city project. The partnership is expected to drive economic growth and development in the state, and provide a boost to the aviation industry in Nigeria.
