Aba Union Endorses Governor Alex Otti for 2027 Re-Election, Lauds Unprecedented Achievements

In a landmark show of unity and endorsement, members of Aba Union, the apex socio-cultural body of the nine LGAs in the Old Aba Division, have pledged their full support for the re-election of Governor Alex Otti in 2027. This declaration was made during a strategic meeting hosted by elder statesman and Abia's first Attorney General, Chief Theo Nkire, at his residence in Aba.

The leadership of Aba Union, including its President, HRM Eze Love Nwogu, and Chief Nkire, commended the Governor's transformative strides in just two years, especially in infrastructure, education, and healthcare. They acknowledged that although they didn’t support him in 2023, his overwhelming performance has earned their total backing going forward. The Union noted that his two-year record has outshone the combined efforts of previous administrations over the last 24 years.

The Union cited signature projects such as the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road, the upcoming Nsulu Airport project, the Medical Village in Owerrinta, and the AIIP in Owaza as evidence of the Governor's commitment to development. These projects have had a significant impact on the state's infrastructure and economy, and have improved the lives of Abians.

The Union also requested a date for a grand civic reception in Governor Otti's honor, a testament to their appreciation for his leadership. This gesture demonstrates the Union's commitment to recognizing and celebrating the Governor's achievements.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, affirmed the Governor as their consensus candidate for 2027, citing the transformative impact of his leadership on Aba and the entire state. This endorsement is a clear indication of the Governor's popularity and the confidence that stakeholders have in his leadership.

Governor Otti thanked the group for their support and reiterated that his mandate was divinely ordained. He highlighted ongoing reconstruction projects and announced plans to commence work on Uratta and Old Express roads. The Governor also revealed plans to honor the legacy of late statesman Chief Jaja Nwachukwu with a posthumous birthday celebration and ongoing renovations at his residence and access road.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to peace, progress, and zero tolerance for political irresponsibility that could threaten state stability. This commitment is a testament to the Governor's dedication to creating a conducive environment for development and growth.
