UKAN KURUGH SET TO CONFRONT BENUE POLICE COMMISSIONER OVER DETAINED PROTESTER

Makurdi, Benue State - Activist Ukan Kurugh has condemn the act of  the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Police Command, over the continued detention of protesters despite a directive for their unconditional release by the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aondon Aondona Dajoh.

Kurugh expressed deep distress and emotional burden after receiving a heartbreaking phone call from the mother of one of the detained protesters, whose cries over her son's continued detention have shaken him to his core. He emphasized that the detention is not only an act of defiance but also a denial of justice and a slap in the face of due process.

As someone who has been a vocal advocate for justice and human rights in Benue State, Kurugh has previously spoken out against police brutality, including the tragic shooting of a young student, Emmanuella Ahenjir, by police officers at Wurukum Roundabout in May 2025. This latest move is seen as another effort by Kurugh to hold those in power accountable for their actions.

Kurugh's actions have garnered both support and criticism, with some viewing him as a champion of truth and others accusing him of being anti-government. However, his commitment to speaking out against injustice remains unwavering .
