Tension in Lessel as Youths Apprehend Suspected Herdsmen

Lessel, Benue State - A tense situation unfolded in Lessel, the headquarters of Ushongo Local Government Area, after youths apprehended a group of seven suspected Fulani herdsmen traveling in a Sharon bus with unknown goods.



The apprehended individuals were taken into custody by the police at the Divisional Police Station in Lessel and later transferred to the Benue Police Command headquarters in Makurdi. The bus and its contents remain at the police station in Lessel.


Executive Chairman of Ushongo LGC, Hon. Terkimbi Adzu, has taken charge of the situation, assuring that the right thing will be done to unravel the identity of the apprehended persons and the content of the goods. Adzu reached out to key stakeholders, including the Ter Ushongo, HRH Augustine Kuma, and the Majority Leader of the State Assembly, Saater Tiseer.


The Chairman has promised to unveil the contents of the bus publicly, amid concerns and an all-night vigil by youths at the Divisional Police Station. The situation remains developing, with coordinated attention and action from local leaders and stakeholders.
