Senator Barau Distances Himself from 2027 Running Mate Speculations

Senator Barau I Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, issued a statement clarifying his position on speculation surrounding his potential selection as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's running mate in the 2027 elections.



The Northern Nigeria Progressive Youth Assembly (NNPYA) had been calling for President Tinubu to consider Senator Barau as his running mate in the 2027 elections. However, Senator Barau has distanced himself from these speculations, urging the group to focus on supporting the President's administration instead.


In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau appealed to NNPYA and other groups to refrain from clamoring for his selection as running mate. He emphasized the need for all Nigerians to rally behind President Tinubu to address the country's numerous challenges.


Senator Barau reaffirmed his commitment to the success of President Tinubu's administration, highlighting the President's efforts to transform the country through his Renewed Hope Agenda. He urged all Nigerians to support the President in continuing with his programs and policies that have started to bear positive fruits.


"If you are truly my supporters, please desist from this unnecessary clamour and join the train to restore the glorious days of our country under the able leadership of President Tinubu," Senator Barau said.

Senator Barau's statement demonstrates his commitment to supporting President Tinubu's administration and his desire to focus on the country's development rather than personal ambition.
