Plateau State Govt, UNDP Collaborate on Sustainability Initiatives

The Plateau State Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have embarked on a collaborative initiative to drive sustainable development and environmental protection in the state. A technical session was held with key ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Mineral Development, Ministry of Water Resources and Energy, Plateau Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (PRUWASSA), and Plateau Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (PLAMWASSA).



The initiative aims to improve climate governance, promote sustainable mining practices, and enhance energy and water sector initiatives. The partnership seeks to foster collaborative programs that will unlock opportunities for economic growth while safeguarding the environment and natural assets for future generations.

The initiative aligns with Governor Caleb Mutfwang's vision to promote sustainable economic growth, environmental protection, and community development. The partnership is expected to yield tangible outcomes, including enhanced sustainability, improved livelihoods for artisanal miners, and increased economic growth.


The technical session focused on:


1. Climate governance and conservation efforts

2. Sustainable mining practices

3. Energy and water sector initiatives

4. Value addition and environmental sustainability


The partnership is expected to drive meaningful development and ensure a sustainable future for the state's citizens. The Plateau State Government and UNDP aim to work together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote development in the state.
