Lagos Civil Society Organization Condemns Benue Killings, Calls for Collective Action
The Coordinator of Lagos Civil Society Organisation, Leftist Napoleon Kelvin, has expressed deep anger and sadness over the recent killings in Benue State and other parts of Nigeria by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Kelvin condemned the attacks, describing them as an "internal war" that demands collective action.
Kelvin strongly condemned the killings, stating that they can never be acceptable and that it's time for Nigerians to come together to stop the violence.
He emphasized the need for unity among Nigerians, citing the phrase "it's easier to invade a house that's divided against itself" to drive home the importance of putting aside differences to address the issue. The South-south, Southeast, and Southwest regions are reportedly worst hit, with Benue State being a prime example.
The Lagos Civil Society Organisation, along with other human rights groups like Amnesty International Nigeria and Human Rights Watch, has called for activism to stop the killings.
The groups emphasized the need for collective responsibility in addressing the issue, urging the government to take decisive action to protect lives and property.
This development highlights the growing concern over violence and insecurity in Nigeria, with civil society organizations demanding action to address the root causes of the problem.
