KANO STATE GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES FERTILIZER DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM TO BOOST AGRICULTURE

Kano, Nigeria - In a bid to enhance food production, economic growth, and food security, the Kano State Government has launched a fertilizer distribution program to support farmers across the state.

The program, flagged off by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, involves the distribution of 3 trucks of fertilizer to each of the 44 Local Government Councils at a 50% discount. Each truck contains 600 bags of fertilizer, totaling 79,200 bags across the state.

This initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to advance agricultural development in Kano State. Over the past two years, the government has expanded access to farmland and irrigation facilities, rehabilitated major irrigation schemes, and awarded new projects across 11 Local Governments. Additionally, the ongoing construction of a dam at Dansoshiya in Kiru LGA aims to facilitate year-round farming.

"We are committed to advancing agricultural development in Kano State, and this fertilizer distribution program is a significant step towards achieving that goal. We believe that this initiative will benefit our farmers and enhance food production, economic growth, and food security in the state," Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said.

The 50% discount on fertilizer is expected to reduce the financial burden on farmers, increase crop yields, and improve food production in the state. The program is seen as a vital support to the agricultural sector, which is a significant contributor to the state's economy.
