Kano Governor Honoured with Prestigious Award by NUJ

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been recognized for his outstanding support to the media profession and good governance with a prestigious Media Supportive Award by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ). The award was presented during the NUJ's 70th Anniversary Awards and Gala Night held in Abuja.


The award was received by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo on behalf of Governor Yusuf from the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Muhammad Idris.

According to the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, Governor Yusuf was selected for the award due to his unwavering commitment to national development, promotion of good governance, and consistent support for press freedom and the advancement of journalism in Nigeria.



Deputy Governor Gwarzo congratulated Governor Yusuf on the recognition and expressed appreciation to the NUJ for acknowledging the governor's contributions to media development and democratic values. He also conveyed Governor Yusuf's congratulations to the NUJ on its 70th anniversary.

The Deputy Governor reaffirmed the state government's commitment to upholding the principles of press freedom, transparency, and responsible governance. He announced that Kano State will proudly host the next National Executive Council meeting of the NUJ

The NUJ commended Governor Yusuf's exemplary leadership, transparency, accountability, and dedication to public service, highlighting his contributions to the development of journalism in Nigeria.
