Imo Police Crack Down on Child Trafficking Ring, Rescue 12 Children
The Imo State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against child trafficking, arresting a 42-year-old woman, Ann Ngozi Enyenwa, and rescuing 12 suspected stolen children on June 20, 2025, along the Owerri-Aba Express Road.
The police arrested Enyenwa during an intelligence-led stop-and-search operation after she was found with several children whose appearance and condition raised suspicions. Further investigation revealed that she was part of a child trafficking network that exploited minors for street begging in Aba, Abia State.
The 12 rescued children, aged between 5 and 13, are currently in safe custody. Their names are.

The police are working to identify and reunite the children with their biological families. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has condemned all forms of child trafficking and assured the public of the police's commitment to safeguarding children's rights and dignity.
