Governor Otti Commissions Renovation Projects in Bende LGA

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has commissioned the newly renovated Ngwu-Uzuakoli Primary Health Centre in Bende Local Government Area (LGA) under the first phase of the "Project Ekwueme" initiative. This project is part of a broader effort to upgrade and retrofit primary health centers across the state, with 200 out of 948 PHCs made functional so far.

During the commissioning ceremony, Governor Otti also unveiled 15 additional primary health centers that have either been completed or are currently under renovation across the 13 electoral wards in Bende LGA. This move underscores the administration's commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that every community in Abia State benefits from its development initiatives.

In a significant political development, Governor Otti welcomed key defectors from the PDP and APC who officially joined the Labour Party. Among the defectors were Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, member representing Bende North in the Abia State House of Assembly, and Dr. Okey Ezeala, a former State Publicity Secretary of the APC. The Governor reaffirmed that his administration's development plan is inclusive, highlighting that 23 new projects, including 18 roads and 5 PHC projects, have been commissioned across several LGAs in the last 10 days.

Governor Otti also inaugurated the Bende LGA Chapter of the Abia Arise movement, a group that supports his administration's vision for the state. During the inauguration, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, the YPP Deputy Governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, pledged his support for the Governor's good governance initiatives. In a show of commitment, Dr. Anyaso donated two coaster buses to the Abia Arise Bende family, promising to maintain and fuel them personally.

The Coordinator of Project Ekwueme in Abia North, Hon. Luke Ukara Onyeani, highlighted the impact of the initiative, stating that 64 primary health centers are being retrofitted in the region. He described the progress as mind-blowing and unprecedented in the Southeast, reflecting the administration's dedication to improving public services and infrastructure.

The event was attended by top government officials and members of support groups, who commended Governor Otti's visionary leadership and commitment to people-focused governance.
