Governor Mbah Appoints New Leadership for Enugu State Forest Guard

The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has approved the appointment of new leadership for the Enugu State Forest Guard. Colonel Dan Didiugwu (rtd) has been appointed as the Chairman of the Forest Guard Board, while DCP Olamitisoji Akinbamilayo, PhD (rtd) has been appointed as the Commander of the Forest Guard.

The appointment of the Chairman is subject to confirmation by the Enugu State House of Assembly, while the appointment of the Commander takes effect immediately. According to a statement signed by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Government, the appointments are part of the State Government's efforts to strengthen and professionalize forest and environmental security operations across Enugu State.

The State Government has expressed confidence in the capacity and experience of both Colonel Didiugwu and DCP Akinbamilayo to reposition the Forest Guard into a highly responsive and efficient outfit. The office of Commander of the Forest Guard supersedes the previously existing position of State Coordinator, which has been abolished.

The appointments are aimed at safeguarding lives, property, and natural resources in Enugu State, and are in line with the State Government's commitment to environmental security. The State Government expects the new leadership to bring about a new era of effectiveness and efficiency in the Forest Guard.
