Fufeyin's Comments Spark Debate: Activist Martins Vincent Otse Calls for Caution Against False Prophets

Nigerian social media activist Martins Vincent Otse has criticized Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, founder and head prophet of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, for urging Christians to respond aggressively to online insults targeting their faith or family. Fufeyin reportedly stated, "Christian, wake up! We were sleeping for a long time. If someone insults your father, will you just keep quiet like that? Someone is now using a phone to insult your father; pick up your phone and insult back." He also described Christians as "fighters," citing the example of Christians in Israel.

Otse condemned Fufeyin's words as a call to war and advised Christians to be cautious of false prophets, referencing Matthew 7:15. Otse expressed disappointment that Fufeyin has not used his platform to encourage Christians to hold the government accountable for addressing the violence perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in different Nigerian states. Instead, Fufeyin's followers are being provoked to engage in online battles. Otse concluded that Fufeyin has chosen to leave vengeance to God and advised his followers to do the same
