Benue State Governor Suspends Special Adviser Over Alleged Sextortion and Cyberbullying
The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has suspended his Special Adviser on Documentation, Research, and Planning, Mr. Mkor Aondona, with immediate effect. The suspension follows Aondona's arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
Governor Alia emphasized his administration's commitment to upholding integrity, discipline, and accountability in public service. He stated that any official found wanting in matters of criminality or ethical misconduct would face the full weight of the law.
The Governor assured the public that the law would take its full course without interference or bias. He emphasized that public office is a call to serve with honor, transparency, and responsibility, and anyone who deviates from this path would have no place in his government.
The suspended aide is expected to submit himself to the legal process to answer to the allegations leveled against him. The government of Benue State remains committed to protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens, especially women and vulnerable groups, and will continue to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served.
