BENUE ATTACK: Yelewata Community Slams Governor Alia Over "Reprisal" Claim
Makurdi, Benue State - There has been a strong reactions to Governor Alia's claim that the recent attack on their community was a reprisal by Fulani herders. In a passionate Facebook post, Engr. Bro. Tsekaa Friday Shuur, a Yelewata youth, questioned the basis of the governor's claim, asking when and where the community had attacked the Fulanis to warrant such a reprisal.
Shuur expressed frustration that Governor Alia seems to be playing politics with the lives of Benue people, exonerating the Fulanis and pointing fingers at foreign mercenaries without revealing who hired them. The youth leader insisted that the community knows where the attackers came from - southern Nasarawa State - and that credible intel reveals a meeting was held in Giza, a neighboring town, where the attackers were recruited and trained by hired Nigerian Army personnel.
The post also accused Miyetti Allah, a Fulani organization, of turning ordinary herders into monsters, claiming they're fighting for freedom and land acquisition. Shuur demanded that Governor Alia tell the truth about the attack and reveal what he knows about the Fulanis' mission in Benue State.
The community's demands come amid growing concerns about the security situation in Benue State and the role of politicians in addressing the crisis.
